Over the years I have taken a number of Security Management and related courses including:
I completed two (2) years of Part Time study and successfully wrote the examination for a certificate in Security Management
Canadem & United Nations
Masters Level, UN Peacekeeping
In 2007 I completed the study and examination of all of the 18 individual Courses offered by the United Nations & Canadem in order to achieve the highest level of Masters as offered by Canadem
Examples of some of the courses included:
An Introduction to the UN System; Commanding United Nations Peacekeeping Operations Disarmament; Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR): Principles of Intervention and Management in Peacekeeping Operations; Global Terrorism;
History of UN Peacekeeping 1945-1987& from1988-1996;
International Humanitarian Law; Operational Logistical Support;
Mine Action: International Conflict Resolution; Principles of Peace Support Operations; Security Measures for United Nations Peacekeepers; United Nations Police: Restoring Civil Order Following Hostilities etc.

In 2008, I earned my designation as Certified Security Professional
This Professional Security Certification is issued by The Canadian Security Certification Authority (CSCA) under the terms issued by The Canadian Society for Industrial Security (CSIS). It requires a detailed background check of both experience and education in the Security Industry. Having met the standards, my certification was issued formally on June 4th 2008.
May 6th 2008 - Ottawa - Attended and completed a Seminar "First Response to Terrorist Activity" offered by CSIS and Paul Fennewald - Terrorism Expert & Instructor. Included a review of Terrorism; Explosives & IEDs; Bomb Threats; Suicide Bombers; Threats to Schools; Cyber Threats & WMD's...

In 2008, I earned my designation as a Certified Protection Professional
This designate has been offered by ASIS International since 1977 and is the only global accreditation in the security industry – recognized in more than 30 countries. This Accreditation is also recognized under ISO/IEC 17024.
The course requires an eligibility based on experience & education; a number of text books; a course preview option (taken in Boston in 2008) and a 4 hour comprehensive supervised examination. On-going education is required to maintain the CPP designation.
The course includes eight general areas of study as follows:-
• Security Principles and Practices
• Business Principles and Practices
• Physical Security
• Investigations • Personnel Security
• Emergency Practices
• Information Security
• Legal Aspects (Canadian Civil & Criminal law)
I am also a member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and am the former Chair of Montreal Chapter # 196
